Hytale Update 5 Part 3: Asset Editor Shortcut & Create Mod Team Joins

アップデート5 パート3まとめ|アセットエディターのショートカット・本棚とロープ改善・Create Modチーム参加

I’m the Professor. That’s three low-key updates in a row, but word is that something truly huge is happening behind the scenes. First, let’s go over this week’s changes.

📌 Key points this week

  • A clear-inventory button in Creative
  • An Asset Editor shortcut (Alt+B)
  • Bookshelves can be stacked, and ropes can be extended up or down
  • Healing Totem healing amount adjusted
  • The Create Mod team has joined Hytale

Clear-inventory button

Creative mode now has a button that wipes your whole inventory. Press it twice and everything you’re carrying is gone. Handy when you want to tidy up in one go.

Asset Editor shortcut

You can now open the Asset Editor with Alt+B on Windows or Option+B on Mac. Even better, it opens with whatever you’re looking at already loaded in a tab, so if you think “I want to mod this item,” you can override it right away. The key binding can be changed in the settings.

Once you can read the code, you can instantly check “how does that actually work?” — which makes it perfect for modding beginners to learn bit by bit.

Bookshelf and rope improvements

  • Bookshelves can now be stacked, so you can build a study lined wall-to-wall with books
  • Ropes can now be extended both up and down. Previously you could only extend them downward from the top

Other changes

  • Descriptions added to ingots and potions
  • The Healing Totem Healing Totem‘s healing amount was adjusted (nerfed). It’s a handy item that heals you and nearby players, but since it never breaks and can be used forever, let’s forgive the nerf
  • Minor bug fixes and block name changes

The real story: why Update 5 feels so quiet

In response to people saying recent updates have been underwhelming, one of the developers’ higher-ups reportedly said that “the whole team is working on something incredible.”

Part of that turns out to be that the team behind Create Mod — the Minecraft mod that lets you build factories with gears and conveyor belts — has officially joined Hytale. That makes an automation system all but certain. What’s more, they say Hytale’s version will feature automation that combines magic and NPCs, not just machines.

Picture it like this: manual work early on, handing jobs off to NPCs in the mid-game, then full automation with machines and magic in the late game. There’s also talk of nearly unlimited world height, and maybe even other planets in the future!

Professor’s note
This is the calm before the storm. They seem to be building something incredible behind the scenes, so let’s be patient and supportive during the quiet weeks.
