I’m the Professor. Word is the next update will bring a ton of new blocks, so this one is the most low-key update yet — almost entirely fixes. Still, there are some important changes in here that lay the groundwork for the future.
📌 Key points this time
- Sword hit effects added (mainly for mods)
- Buff/debuff-aware NPC AI
- World generation is faster, with lower memory usage
- Zone 4 cities always have a dungeon
- Command-block-style CommandInteraction
Combat & NPCs
- Sword hit effects were added, giving a bit more flair when your sword connects. It’s a subtle detail, so go smack a Skeleton and see for yourself
- NPC AI has evolved. You can now make NPCs that change behavior based on their state, turning aggressive when buffed or fleeing when weakened (great for boss modders)
World Generation Performance
World generation is faster and uses less memory. Prefab loading has also improved, so the game is less likely to bog down even with lots of mods installed. Not flashy, but very welcome.
World Changes
- Zone 4 cities now always generate a dungeon. Head to a city and you’re guaranteed to find one
- Trees no longer grow on top of dungeons
Voice Chat Improvements
The proximity voice chat added last time got better audio quality, plus a new push-to-talk (PTT) option.
Spotlight: CommandInteraction
This is the one KeniPoyo was most excited about. Simply put, it’s a feature similar to Minecraft’s command blocks: you can build contraptions that fire off commands when someone presses a button or touches a block. It still seems to be in testing, but down the road we may see things like blocks that teleport you on touch, or spawners.
Other Changes
- Builder tool improvements
- Camera mode improvements (characters no longer stare into the camera)
You can’t have a blockbuster update every single time. Updates that shore up the foundation matter too, you know. If you enjoy making maps, keep CommandInteraction in mind.

🎮 When you buy or upgrade Hytale, entering KeniPoyo (capital K and P) in the creator code field on the left side of the purchase screen helps support KeniPoyo’s work!
