I’m the Professor. The Teleporter in Hytale lets you warp instantly between any two of them you place. Think of it as your very own magic door! It’s perfect for hopping between bases, and used cleverly it makes exploring a whole lot easier.
In this guide, I’ll show you the fastest way to build a Teleporter from the very start of the game, including where to find every material and how to make the benches you need.
▶ Watch KeniPoyo build one on the fastest route (in Japanese)!
Quick Answer: The Road to a Teleporter
- Build a
Workbench and a
Furnace - Upgrade the Workbench to Level 2 (copper, iron and Linen Scraps)
- Build the
Arcanist’s Workbench (thorium, Linen Scraps and Essence of the Void). Farm the essence in a Goblin Breach - Craft the
Teleporter (Azure Logs, Azure Kelp and rock)
Good news: one craft gives you two Teleporters! Place them in two spots and you can start warping right away.
What You Can Do with Teleporters
- 🏠 Travel between bases: reach a far-off base or mining site in an instant
- 🚪 Get home from expeditions: drop one where you’re exploring and warp back in a flash
- 🐄 Ship animals to your ranch: send captured animals straight to your farm
- 💀 Traps: lure enemies into a Teleporter and send them into a pitfall or worse
For trap ideas, check out KeniPoyo’s video where he takes down a boss camp with a teleport trap. It’s a fun one!
Total Materials Needed
Here’s everything you need for the Level 2 Workbench, the Arcanist’s Workbench and the Teleporter, all added up.
| Material | Total | Where to get it |
|---|---|---|
| 50 | Dropped by Skeletons, Zombies, Trorks and more. Defeat every Skeleton you see | |
| 30 | Smelt |
|
| 20 | Smelt |
|
| 10 | Smelt |
|
| 20 | Dropped by Void enemies that spawn inside a Goblin Breach (rift) | |
| 8 | Chop trees in the blue forest of Zone 1 (the Azure forest) | |
| 2 | Grows in pools of water in the blue forest. A bit rare | |
| 10 | Everywhere |
You need 50 Linen Scraps in total (20 for the Level 2 Workbench + 30 for the Arcanist’s Workbench). Take out every Skeleton you meet and you’ll thank yourself later.
Step 1: Build a Workbench and a Furnace
First, gather wood and stone and build a basic Workbench. While you’re at it, craft a pickaxe, a sword and an axe too.
Workbench (crafted in: your inventory)
• Any log ×4
• Any rock ×3
Furnace (crafted at: Workbench)
• Any log ×6
• Any rock ×6
The Furnace is what you use to smelt ore into ingots.
Step 2: Gather Materials in the Blue Forest
Once you’re ready, head to the blue forest (the Azure forest) on the map. It’s the spot in Zone 1 where the trees and grass are all blue.
Azure Log: chop the trees in the blue forest (8)
Azure Kelp: grows in pools of water in the blue forest (2). It’s a little rare and sometimes isn’t there at all, so grab it whenever you spot it
According to KeniPoyo, you can find ore even at shallow depths under this forest, so I recommend collecting your copper and such right here instead of digging deep. Just watch out: the blue caves have some fairly nasty enemies.
Step 3: Upgrade the Workbench to Level 2
The Workbench levels up through upgrades. You need Level 2 to build the Arcanist’s Workbench.
Workbench Level 1 → Level 2 (done via: Workbench upgrade)
•
Copper Ingot ×30
•
Iron Ingot ×20
•
Linen Scraps ×20
Step 4: Farm Essence of the Void in a Goblin Breach
Essence of the Void (20) drops from Void enemies. A recent update stopped Void enemies from appearing at night, so your most reliable source is a Goblin Breach (rift).
- About 2 minutes after entering a Goblin Breach, the screen turns purple-ish and Void enemies start pouring in
- Defeat them to collect the essence
- If you die inside, you drop your items, so don’t push your luck
How to open a Goblin Breach (touch the generator in the temple, then go out to open ground) is explained in detail in my Chapter 1 guide.
Step 5: Mine Thorium in the Desert
The last material is
Thorium Ore. It’s a bit of a trek, but head south to the desert (Zone 2).
- It’s easy to spot inside caves or sticking out of cliff faces
- It appears in Dry Mud and Sandstone
- You need 10. Smelt them in a Furnace into
Thorium Ingots
Enemies in Zone 2 hit a bit harder, so if you don’t have armor yet, avoid fights. For exact ore locations, see my ore location guide.
Step 6: Build the Arcanist’s Workbench
Arcanist’s Workbench (crafted at: Workbench Level 2)
•
Thorium Ingot ×10
•
Linen Scraps ×30
•
Essence of the Void ×20
Besides Teleporters, the Arcanist’s Workbench also lets you craft Orbis Fragments (portal keys) and more.
Step 7: Craft the Teleporter!
Teleporter ×2 (crafted at: Arcanist’s Workbench)
•
Azure Log ×8
•
Azure Kelp ×2
•
Any rock ×10
And there’s your magic door! Place the two Teleporters wherever you like and you can zip between them instantly.
Unlock “Memories” to Get More Teleporters!
At first you can only place up to 2 Teleporters. Try placing a third and you’ll see a message saying you’ve hit the placement limit and should collect Memories to raise it.
Unlock Memories at the Forgotten Temple to increase how many Teleporters you can craft and place!
Base, mine, ranch, exploration spots… you can keep adding more warp destinations.
Discover all kinds of places and creatures to collect Memories, then unlock them at the temple. The more Teleporters you have, the smaller the world of Hytale feels!
The Professor’s Summary
- The Teleporter is a magic door: place two and you can warp between them
- The route is Workbench → Workbench Level 2 → Arcanist’s Workbench → Teleporter
- Get Azure Logs and Azure Kelp in the blue forest, and thorium in the desert
- You need 50 Linen Scraps in total. Defeat every Skeleton you see
- One craft makes two
- You start with a limit of 2. Unlock Memories at the Forgotten Temple to craft and place more
My advice: build these early, right after you start the game. For more material details, check the Teleporter item page and the Arcanist’s Workbench recipe list.
