Hytale Backpack Guide: How to Craft and Upgrade Your Backpack to 36 Slots

Hi! I’m KeniPoyo, the only person in Japan playing Hytale. This time it’s all about how to make the backpack and upgrade it.

An update changed the recipe for Backpack Upgrade II, so I put together every step, from unlocking the backpack all the way to the max of 36 slots. If your inventory keeps filling up and you keep running back to base, this one’s for you.

Quick summary

Backpack Unlock: 9 slots

Craft it at the Workbench with 8 Iron Ingots and 8 Medium Leather. Medium Leather comes from tanning Medium Hide at the Tannery. Make it early, it makes everything easier.

Backpack Upgrade I: 18 slots

Unlocks once your Workbench reaches tier 2.

• Cindercloth Scraps x40, dropped by burnt enemies
• Cobalt Ingots x8
• Heavy Leather x24, tanned from Heavy Hide

Backpack Upgrade II: 27 slots, new recipe!

This is the big one. It used to need a Voidheart, Adamantite Ingots, Storm Leather and a higher Memories level. Now it’s made at the Goblin Tinkerer’s Workbench, and the materials are much easier to get.

Backpack Upgrade III: 36 slots

The last one can’t be crafted. Bring 2 Gobliterator Cores to the Klops Scrap Trader in the Deepworks. The cores drop from the Gobliterator, see the Gobliterator guide.

Wrap-up

Once you hit 36 slots, running out of space while gathering and exploring gets a lot rarer. Remember they only work in order, so take them one at a time.
