I’m the Professor. Before we knew it, Update 6 has reached Part 9. With small updates every week, Update 6 has grown into quite a hefty update. This week’s headliner is Hardcore mode!
📌 Key points this week
- Hardcore mode is here (selectable only at world creation)
- When you die, you don’t respawn and become a spectator
- Sliding no longer uses stamina
- Search added to key bindings
- Star positions in the night sky are now correct
What is Hardcore mode?
Just like Minecraft’s Hardcore, it’s a mode where you can’t come back after dying. Enemies don’t get any tougher — it’s simply game over once you die.
- Enable it with a checkbox in the settings when creating a world (it can’t be changed later)
- When you die, you don’t respawn — you drop everything you’re carrying on the spot and switch to Spectator mode
There’s actually a loophole
When KeniPoyo tested it, typing the /spectate command let him move around normally again. However, your items stay where you died, and you start over with no gear at all. It’s not a full revival, so in practice it’s still pretty brutal.
Hardcore mode was later expanded into four variants in Part 11.
Other changes
- Sliding no longer consumes stamina
- Key bindings (controls) now have a search function
- Star positions were fixed, so the night sky now displays correctly
- Minor bug fixes
I’m amazed anyone was bothered by the star positions! Watching little details like this get fixed is part of the fun of Early Access.
