The Professor here. Today we’re taking apart the Void Surge inside the Goblin Breach.
About 2 minutes after you enter a Breach, a message appears and Void enemies start spawning. Everyone can feel that “it gets harder later on.” But do you know exactly when, what, and how often?
Short answer: the Void Surge has 6 stages. At 2:00, 4:00, 6:30, 9:00, 11:30 and 13:00 the atmosphere shifts, and each shift adds new enemies.
Quick answer: what spawns when?
| Time | New enemies | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 0:00β2:00 | No Void yet | Free time to explore and mine |
| 2:00+ | Void Larva | 15 HP fodder, about every 1.5 min |
| 4:00+ | + Void Crawler | 50 HP, a bit more of a fight |
| 6:30+ | + Voidtaken Goblin + Void Tentacle + a one-time pack of 3 Crawlers |
The real fight starts. Goblins come in pairs |
| 9:00+ | + Void Eye + a one-time pack of 2 Crawlers |
The Eye summons 2β4 Crawlers |
| 10:00 | β° Normal time limit. The barrier closes and you’re kicked out | |
| 11:30+ | + faster Crawler spawns + a one-time pack of 4 Crawlers |
Only with a time extension |
| 13:00+ | + Void Fiend | 700 HP heavy. Only with the max extension |
Once an enemy type shows up, it keeps spawning for the rest of the run. So later stages stack the old enemies on top of the new ones.
Each stage in detail
2:00+ Stage 1: Void Larva
Void Larva
HP 15 / Max hit 7
Spawns about every 66β94 s. No drops, so not worth much
4:00+ Stage 2: Void Crawler
Void Crawler
HP 50 / Max hit 14
About every 70β90 s. Bites for 14. Drops 0β1 Void Essence
6:30+ Stage 3: Goblins and Tentacles
Voidtaken Goblin
HP 36 / Max hit 22
Spawns 2 at a time, up to 3. Triple combo 22, double swing 16, throw 10. 0β1 Void Essence
Void Tentacle
HP 36 / Max hit 24
About every 80β100 s. Bursts out of the ground and hits for 24. 0β1 Void Essence
The moment this stage starts, a pack of 3 Crawlers spawns once. Combined with two Goblins, it’s easy to get surrounded, so get ready before 6:30.
9:00+ Stage 4: Void Eye
Left alone, the Void Eye keeps adding Crawlers. Kill it first whenever you see one. A pack of 2 Crawlers also arrives right at 9:00.
11:30+ Stage 5: Crawler flood, extension only
Crawler spawns speed up to about every 40β53 s, and a pack of 4 arrives once. You need a time extension to get here, explained below.
13:00+ Stage 6: Void Fiend, max extension only
The big one that comes with the final storm. It only shows up after 13:00, so you’ll never meet it unless the time limit is fully extended.
Also, more players means more spawns at once, around +2β3 with 4 players. Multiplayer gets busy fast.
What the Void enemies drop
| Enemy | Drops |
|---|---|
| Void Larva | Nothing |
| Void Crawler / Tentacle / Goblin | |
| Void Eye | |
| Void Fiend |
- Void Essence: used for the Arcanist’s Workbench, the Ancient Gateway, Breach keys, stat seeds and more
- Voidheart: a key material for Backpack Upgrade II, summoning the Voidtaken Grizzly, and the time extension below
- Veilbound Key: opens a Veilbound Coffer inside the Breach. It disappears when you leave, so use it right away
Extending the time limit: the Goblin Breach Console
A Breach normally lasts 10 minutes, so you can’t reach the 11:30+ stages as-is. To extend it, repair the Goblin Breach Console in the Goblin Lab. Each repair adds time, and the lab must have power.
| Repair | Materials | Time limit |
|---|---|---|
| 1st | 12 min, +2 | |
| 2nd | 13 min, +3 | |
| 3rd | 14 min, +4 |
The Void Fiend starts at 13:00, so you can only really fight it after the 3rd repair, at 14 min. That final minute is your guaranteed-Voidheart bonus round.
Want Voidhearts fast? See the Voidheart farming guide: the entombed Void Fiend plus the Veilbound Coffer give up to 4 per Breach.

Spawn times, intervals and drops are as of Chapter 1 and may change with updates.
