Hytale Veilbound Key & Voidheart Farming: Where to Find the Void Fiend and Coffers

The Professor here. Today’s topic is how to farm Voidhearts.

Voidhearts are a key material for Backpack Upgrade II, summoning the Voidtaken Grizzly and extending the Breach time limit. But a Void Eye only drops one 5% of the time. The route I recommend: beat the entombed Void Fiend, take its Veilbound Key, and clear the coffer waves right away. If it goes well, you get up to 4 Voidhearts in a single Breach.

TL;DR: the Voidheart route

  1. Enter a Goblin Breach, open the map and look for an outpost. Goblin, spider or Void, any outpost works
  2. In the crystal room under the outpost, find the entombed Void Fiend
  3. Kill the enemies around it, then break the crystal with a pickaxe to free it
  4. Beat the Void Fiend for a Voidheart and a Veilbound Key
  5. Explore the Goblin Breach caves for a glowing purple coffer, use the key and clear the waves. Reach wave 5 for 2–3 more Voidhearts

What the Void Fiend drops

Void Fiend drops

The entombed Void Fiend and the Void Fiend that shows up late in the Void Surge drop the same things, all guaranteed: 1 Voidheart, 1 Veilbound Key, 2 Runestone Shards and 3–4 Void Essence.

Where to find the entombed Void Fiend

1. Find an outpost on the map

Once you’re in a Goblin Breach, open your map. The slightly larger buildings are outposts. Not just the purple Void outpost: Goblin and spider outposts also have an entombed Void Fiend in the basement. Just head to the nearest one.

2. Go inside and head down

There are lots of enemies around the outpost. Inside the building, look for stairs leading down.

Watch your step! Parts of the floor inside the building collapse, so move carefully.

3. Break the seal in the crystal room

In the crystal room underground, the Void Fiend is sealed inside a crystal. First, kill the enemies around it. Then switch to your pickaxe and break the crystal to release it.

4. Beat the Void Fiend

The freed Void Fiend has 700 HP, and it teleports after you if you back off, so kiting is hard. Iron gear makes this rough; bring at least Adamantite gear.

The Professor’s note
Outpost too far away? A flying Void Eye can drop a Voidheart too, but only 5% of the time.

Use the Veilbound Key on the coffer

The Veilbound Key disappears when you return to your world, so use it in the same Breach. Look for a glowing purple coffer while exploring the underground caves of the Goblin Breach. You can also find one inside the goblin slums.

Use the key and monsters attack in waves. You have 2 minutes for all 5 waves. Clear them and the coffer bursts open.

The Professor’s tips
If you beat the Void Fiend, these waves are easy. Two tips:
1. Before using the key, clear the small fry around the coffer
2. When the waves start, switch to a weapon that hits several enemies at once, like a Battleaxe, and swing away
That alone wins it!

Coffer rewards

Veilbound Coffer wave rewards
  • Wave 3 is the turning point: from there a Voidheart is guaranteed
  • You get the full table for your last cleared wave. Reach wave 5 for 2–3 Voidhearts
  • Wave 5 extras: a Breach key at 30% and the Goblin Painting: The Breaches recipe at 15%
  • If time runs out before you clear even one wave, the coffer crumbles to dust

The Professor’s note
One Voidheart from the Fiend and 2–3 from the coffer: up to 4 Voidhearts per Breach. Swing a Battleaxe through the waves and they are no threat.
